Good Wine Fine Art

Good wine, fine art and a moment to savour

I have experienced many memorable occasions in my time in Portugal. I remember landing in Lisbon with just seven suitcases, a toddler, a baby, a courageous wife along with a lot vision and hope.  I recall the thrill of buying our first Portuguese house and the excitement of starting a business here by little more than sheer chance. I had another memorable episode yesterday, it came over dinner when my wife and I finally sat down together and decided to uncork a bottle of red. Staring back at me from the dinner table was a label on the bottle featuring one of my paintings. My kids were thankfully suitably impressed and now think I am famous. As they chatted excitedly I thought if someone would have told me decades ago that one day I would be sitting in Portugal, with a career involving selling my paintings throughout the globe, looking at one of my works on a bottle which was destined to go all over Europe, I would have been very happy. Life is strange, good and unfathomable.

We have made many friends along the way and this wine is from two people we are fortunate enough to be able to say are amongst our best amigos.  Their organic wines are some of the best we have sampled.  The one we drank is my particular favourite which is one from the latest Touriga Nacional/Jaen grape-blends. It had a mellow but fruity flavour with a slight spicy finish. Something we felt was versatile enough to be consumed with meat and fish. You really should try it because it is imbued with quality and it has just been added to their website. If you would like to see their complete range of wines please check them out at www.vinhoscortem.com.
